Notes: Catherine Owen has been publishing and performing poetry since 1993. Her work has appeared in such periodicals as The Dalhousie Review and Poetry Salzburg. Her works include Somatic – The Life and Work of Egon Schiele, nominated for the Gerald Lampert Award, The Wrecks of Eden, shortlisted for the BC Book Prize, and her new collections, Shall: ghazals (Wolsak and Wynn) and Cusp/detritus (Anvil Press). A selection from Seeing Lessons, on the pioneer photographer, Mattie Gunterman, was recently shortlisted for the CBC Literary Awards.


Catherine Owen is a shapeshifter of words, a mystic always at the edge of a precipice looking down into the absolute darkness. Owen is a poet with a decidedly quirky Dark Side. This is pointedly clear as you immerse yourself in comprehending Cusp/detritus, a confessional oeuvre par excellence, and a damned compelling one.
