Monica Kidd grew up on the rural Alberta prairies and now lives in Newfoundland, where she moved initially to work as a seabird biologist, and then as a reporter for CBC Radio. She is the author of two novels (Beatrice, Turnstone Press; and The Momentum of Red, Raincoast Books). In 2007, she is in her final year of medical school at Memorial University of Newfoundland.
"Kidd surges prominently to the fore. Her strength is her diction: not just the right word, but the surprising word; not just the appropriate image, but the unusual image."
