Lewis DeSoto was born in Bloemfontein, South Africa. After moving to Canada, he attended the University of British Columbia, where he received a master of fine arts. He has exhibited paintings in public and private galleries across Canada. A former editor of the Literary Review of Canada, DeSoto has published short stories and essays in numerous journals and was awarded the Writers’ Union Short Prose Award. He is married to the artist Gunilla Josephson and lives in Toronto and Normandy.
